Each week we give you a rapid fire listen on events coming up, promotions, ticket deals, a trivia question and a bit of Shocker history. Today's guest with the trivia question is Kayla Jost. Kayla is director of events for the Wichita Stand Athletic Department. Kayla, hit us with the trivia question.

[00:00:51] Speaker B: Thank you, Kayla. As always, I make you stick around and listen to several of the events going on before we give you the answer. Kayla will be back really quickly. WSU men's basketball opens the AAC championship in Fort Worth against USF. That's 11:30 Thursday on ESPNU. Shocker baseball they swept Missouri State over the weekend and they face a busy week. They have games at Nebraska on Tuesday and Wednesday, then they're back at X Stadium on Friday to start a series with Louisiana Tech. Those game times are 6pm, 2pm and 1pm and there's a bunch of promotions to get you out to the ballpark. Friday's game is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. That's free admission with a shocker ID. On Saturday, the first 250 fans receive a WSU St. Patrick's Day pint class. Sunday it's 316 day with GA tickets available for $3.16. WSU softball they are at Kansas on Wednesday. Then they're home this weekend to continue AAC play against North Texas. That starts Friday, 6pm, 2pm and noon. Game times on Friday. WSU students can get free pizza to celebrate PI Day. It's 3:14 for everyone who doesn't know what PI Day is. Saturday same deal. First 250 fans receive a WSU St. Patrick's pint glass. Sunday. Also 316 day. GA tickets available for $3.16 at Wilkins Stadium. Shocker Men's tennis Their home this weekend they play number 50, Memphis at 1pm Friday, number 67 Charlotte at 1pm Sunday. Both matches are at the Coleman Tennis Complex. Women's tennis team takes a spring trip to Louisiana where they will face Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Princeton on Saturday and Tulane on Sunday. Their next home match is March 30th versus UTSA. WSU women's bowling is ranked number five in the nation as they enter their final regular season tournament this week in Smyrna, Tennessee. It's hosted by Vanderbilt. The Shockers open Conference usa tournament play March 19 Kayla hit us with a trivia answer.
[00:02:50] Speaker A: Your trivia answer is B. In 1989, pitcher Patty Bautista earned MVP honors in the Gateway conference. She went 2415 with a 1.32 ERA. She threw 38 complete games and 13 shutouts, both of which remained number one in the WSU single season list. She led the 1989 Shockers to the NBC Tournament title in their first NCAA appearance.
[00:03:15] Speaker B: So Kayla, you are also game management lead for the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament which is coming to Interest bank arena next week. Wichita State is one of the main sponsors of that. There's a big meeting last night down at the arena where you got all the volun, the students, the staff organized. Tell us what a game management lead will be doing next week.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. I will be doing all the behind the scenes work, so we'll be welcoming the teams in, overseeing all the staff members who make sure the balls are on the court and making sure that practices and everything goes well. So really just making sure we have a smooth transition from beginning to finish.
[00:03:52] Speaker B: So you also work the 2022 women's regionals that were downtown.
What's the most exciting thing? What's the most fun thing about being involved in March Madness this way?
[00:04:02] Speaker A: Yeah, I think it's really seeing all of the work that we've done. We've been planning this for a whole year and seeing everything come to life and everybody who is enjoying it, looking out those arena windows and seeing that not only inside but also outside is a party and it's just a blast all around.
[00:04:18] Speaker B: Brad Pittman said you were in charge of good weather next week, is that correct?
[00:04:22] Speaker A: I don't think I'm the person to be put in charge of that, but sure.
