[00:00:14] Hello, welcome to the Roundhouse Rundown, your weekly glance at all things Shocker athletics. Each week we give you a rapid fire listen on events, promotions and ticket deals. There's a trivia question and we wrap it up with Shocker history. This week's trivia question who is the lone Shocker to win national Volleyball Freshman of the Year honors? Is it A Mary Elizabeth Hooper? B. Emily Stockman? Or maybe it's C Mikayla Roudsep. As always, I make you stick around to the end for the answer. Shocker volleyball is 10 and 4 after opening American Conference play with wins over UAB in Memphis. They are home to play Tulsa at 7pm Oct. 3 Friday. [00:00:54] That match is part of Shocktoberfest and it is also Volleyball Alumni night. The first 250 students receive a pickleball paddle. WSU travels to Tulsa for a Sunday match at 1pm Tulsa is 113 and had a 10 match win streak snapped by Rice, but that win streak was highlighted by wins over Cal Poly, Arkansas and Oklahoma. WSU's 104 record is its best 14 match start to a season since the 2017 Shockers went 113 on Saturday, October 4th, it's shocker madness. [00:01:26] Doors open for that free event at 5pm Events tip off at 6pm Evening features introductions, three point contests and scrimmages for both the men's and women's basketball teams. Lupe Fiasco will perform. [00:01:41] You can get another look at The Shockers on October 11th. They have a charity scrimmage for a strake at 1pm Tickets are $20. [00:01:49] Also this weekend, WSU starts its fall softball schedule. The Shockers play McLennan Community College on Saturday at One Emporia State 3pm on Sunday. [00:02:01] Tickets are $5 to those scrimmages. Your trivia answer is a setter. Mary Elizabeth Hooper. She earned Freshman of the Year honors from Collegiate volleyball update in 2008. Hooper guided that 2018 to a 32 record 180 in the MVC, a national ranking that peaked at number nine and an NCAA win over Rice. Hooper would win all conference honors four times during her career as a Shocker and she is a member of the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports of fame. She ranks second on WSU's career list with 4820 assists this week in Shocker history. October 5, 2016 Third baseman Connor Gillespie hits a three run homer in the ninth inning to lift the San Francisco Giants over the Mets 3 nothing in the NL wildcard in New York. Gillespie hits a 11 pitch from closer Juris familia out to right center field. [00:02:55] Connor played for the Shockers from 2006 to 2008. He earned All American honors at third base and was the MVP in the 2008 Stillwater Regional. Thank you for listening.
