Get set for the week with the Roundhouse Rundown podcast, the fastest five minutes in collegiate promotions. The JK Gold Classic opens cross country season on Saturday at Clapp Cross Country Course. The men’s 6-kilometer race starts at 8 a.m., followed by the women’s 5K. Shocker volleyball, 2-1 after their opening weekend, plays two matches in Boulder this weekend. They face No. 23 Colorado at 7 p.m., Friday and Northern Colorado at 2 p.m., Saturday. Both matches are on ESPN+. [00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:08] Hello, welcome to the Roundhouse Rundown, your weekly glance at Shocker athletics. Each week we give you a rapid fire listen on events, promotions and ticket deals. There's a trivia question and a bit of Shocker history. This week's trivia question Volleyball coach Chris Lamb is in his 27th season at Wichita State. [00:00:28] Against which opponent does he own the most victories? A Bradley, b Tulsa or C Drake? Stick around to the end and we will give you the answer. [00:00:39] The JK Gold Classic opens cross country season on September 5th at Clapp Cross Country Course. [00:00:46] The men's 6 kilometer race starts at 8am followed by the women's 5 kilometer high school races. Follow that Shocker volleyball 2 and 1 after their opening weekend, plays two matches in Boulder. This weekend they face number 23 Colorado at 7pm Friday and Northern Colorado at 2pm Saturday. Both matches are on ESPN. [00:01:07] WSU travels to Lawrence on September 8th to play number 15 Kansas. [00:01:13] Next home match for the Shockers 6pm September 15th versus the Kansas Jayhawks for a yellow out with T shirts available for the first 300 fans. [00:01:24] Fall baseball is underway and WSU will scrimmage Cowley county at 1pm Sept. 12 at Ex Stadium. [00:01:32] Your trivia answer is C. Chris Lamb is 351 against Drake, of course. A former Missouri Valley Conference opponent, Drake defeated the Shockers in their first meeting in Lamb's first season. [00:01:43] Shockers defeated Drake later in that 2000 season and continued that streak into the 2023 National Invitational volleyball Championship, the last meeting between the two programs this week in Shocker history. September 4, 2009 Number 25, Wichita State defeats North Carolina 3 to 1 at Koch Arena. Amanda Backus leads the Shockers with 16 kills. [00:02:07] The 2009 Shockers went 267 with non conference wins over Louisville, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. [00:02:16] They finished tied for second in the MVC and defeated St. Louis in the NCAA Tournament before losing to Iowa State in Ames. Thank you for listening.
