[00:00:26] This week's trivia question and it's a distance running theme. Who was the first Shocker to win men's NCAA All American honors in cross country? A. Cal Elmore, B Alan Walker or C Randy Hassenbank? As always, we ask you to stick around to the end for the answer. Shocker Cross country competes in the JK Gold Classic on Saturday at Clapp Cross Country Course. The men's college races at 8am 4, followed by the women and then there are high school races after that. The Shocker men have won three straight JK Gold Classics. Shocker Volleyball they are coming off Sunday's win over Arkansas is on the road this weekend after going one and one in the Shocker Volleyball Classic. WSU plays Incarnate word and number 18 BYU on Friday in the BYU Nike Invitational. The Shockers face Northern Colorado on Saturday.

[00:01:22] WSU's next home match is September 16th versus the University of Kansas. WSU students receive free pizza and fans are encouraged to wear yellow on September 20th. Wichita State basketball coach Paul Mills is hosting Queens of the Court Ladies Day with Shocker Men's basketball. [00:02:03] Your trivia answer is Alan Walker Alan Walker finished 22nd in the 1972 NCAA Cross country meet to earn All American honors. Walker, from Derby High School was one of the top runners during a golden era of distance running. WSU qualified as a team for the NCAA meet in 1971, 73 and 75 under coach Herm Wilson. Walker holds WSU's six mile record with a time of 29 minutes 22 seconds. He set that in 1972. Walker is a member of the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports hall of Fame. He also won the 1972 Missouri Valley Conference cross country meet and he earned six MVC track championships this week in Shocker history. September 4, 2009 Number 25 Wichita State defeats North Carolina 3 to 1 at Kocarina. Amanda Backus leads the Shockers with 16 kills.
