[00:00:14] Speaker A: Hello, this is Paul Sullendrop of Wichita State University Strategic Communications. Welcome to the first Shocker Calendar Podcast for Wichita State Athletics. Each week I'm going to give you a quick lesson on events coming up, promotions, ticket deals, trivia question and a bit of Shocker history. This week's trivia question who is the most recent Shocker to lead the conference in assist for men's basketball? I'll give you three choices. Hit you with the answer at the end of the podcast. A Is it Fred Holman? B Fred Van Vleet or C Landry Shamut? Wednesday women's basketball plays NCAA Division 2 Northeastern Oklahoma State in exhibition games 6pm Wednesday at Coch Arena. Wear your Halloween costume. Get a free GA ticket. First 500 fans get an NBA Haunted Hoops trading card pack. Coach Terry Nooner, in his second season, he's ready to see his team's depth and a more aggressive defense in action. [00:01:07] Speaker B: I think our defense is getting better. I think we're able to play like a little bit more aggressive style of defense, which is more of my personality. I think the players are starting to kind of catch on a little bit more to our defensive principles and that kind of stuff, which can be a little bit different sometimes. So I think our defense has started to grow a lot. We need our offense to grow a bit more too. [00:01:31] Speaker A: Due to weather considerations, the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship is Friday instead of Saturday. The races are at Clap Cross Country Course located at Harry and Oliver here in Wichita. On the men's side, Tulsa and Tulane are among the favorites. They are both receiving votes in the national rankings. Wichita State is number 15 in the Midwest Region. For the women, tulane is number four in the South Central region and rice is number eight. The women's race begins at 4:05pm on Friday. The men's race follows at 4:50. Over the weekend, Shocker men's and women's tennis teams continue their fall schedules. The men will be in Denver to play in the Colorado Cup. The women will play in the Tulsa Invitational. Shocker volleyball team is tied for third in the aac. They play Tulsa twice this weekend. They're at Tulsa on Friday evening, then 1pm Sunday they're back home in Cocharena. WSU beat the Hurricane three times last season, including in the second round of the NIVC. The Shockers own a 10 match win streak over Tulsa.
