Get set for the week with the Roundhouse Rundown podcast, the fastest five minutes in collegiate promotions. WSU volleyball starts American Conference play at UAB on Friday (7 p.m.) and at Memphis on Sunday (1 p.m.). Both matches are on ESPN+. WSU returns home for matches against Tulsa on Oct. 3 and Oct. 5. The Oct. 3 match (7 p.m.) is the annual alumni night. WSU baseball scrimmages Nebraska at noon Saturday at Eck Stadium. [00:00:14] Hello, welcome to the Roundhouse Rundown, your weekly glance at all things Shocker athletics. Each week we give you a rapid fire listen on events, promotions, ticket deals. There's a trivia question and we wrap it up with Shocker history. This week's trivia question was which women's cross country Shocker owns the most individual appearances in the NCAA meet? Is it A Desiree Osbourne, B Winnie Koski or C Christy Swartz? Stick around to the end for the answer. Shocker volleyball is 8 and 4 after non conference play and they open American conference action at 7pm Friday. That's at UAB. They also play at Memphis at 1pm Sunday as part of that road swing. Both matches are on ESPN. [00:00:58] Shockers come back home on Octo Oct. 3 and Oct. 5. Both of those matches are against Tulsa. The Oct. 3 match is at 7pm that's part of the university's Shocktoberfest celebration. It's also Volleyball Alumni night. The first 250 students receive a pickleball paddle. [00:01:18] Shocker baseball gets going with its fall schedule. Fans can watch the team scrimmage against Nebraska at noon on September 27th at 7 Saturday at X Stadium. Shockers travel to Dallas Baptist on October 18th. [00:01:34] Shocker Madness is also coming up. That's part of Shocktoberfest. That is October 4th free event at Kocarina. Doors open at 5pm Events start going at 6. The basketball portion of the evening features introductions of the players, a three point contest and scrimmages for the men and women's team. Lupe Fiasco will perform. [00:01:55] You can get another look at the men's basketball team and their charity scrimmage versus Drake. That's 1pm at October 11th. Tickets are $20. [00:02:05] Shocker softball is also getting ready for its fall schedule. They play McLennan Community College at 1pm on Oct. 4, Emporia State at 3pm on Oct. 5. Oklahoma State comes to Wichita to play a scrimmage on October 16th. [00:02:21] Your trivia answer B Winnie Koskey. She qualified for the national meet three times 2018, 2019 and 2020. Her top finish was number 35 nationally in her first appearance in that meet. [00:02:34] Koski also won three conference cross country titles during her time at WSU. Swartz in 1997 and 1998 and Osbourne 2004 and 2005. Both made two appearances in the NCAA meet this week in shocker history. [00:02:51] September 27, 2008 Number 14 Wichita State improves to 140 with a 31 win at Creighton. Outside hitter Emily Stockman leads the Shockers with 20 kills, 4 aces. The 2008 Shockers will go on to finish the season 32180 and winning the Missouri Valley Conference. They defeated Rice in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to number three Texas.
