Get set for the weekend with the Roundhouse Rundown podcast, the fastest five minutes in collegiate promotions. It is Shocktoberfest on campus and fans can check out volleyball, basketball, softball and baseball all weekend. WSU volleyball plays Tulsa at Koch Arena at 6 p.m., Friday. Shocker Madness is at 6:30 p.m., Saturday. Admission is free and the evening features scrimmages by the men’s and women’s basketball teams, introductions and skills contests. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and both teams will sign autographs until 6 p.m.

[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:15] Hello, welcome to the Roundhouse Rundown, your weekly glance at all things Shocker athletics. Each week we give you a rapid fire listen on events, promotions, ticket deals, trivia question and we always wrap up with Shocker history. This week's trivia question which Shocker volleyball player still holds the Missouri Valley Conference record for career hitting percentage? Is it A Ashley Andrade, b Elizabeth Myers or C Abby Lehman? As always, stick around to the end for the answer. [00:00:47] Big week on campus with the Shocktoberfest going on. [00:00:51] We start out with WSU volleyball. They play Tulsa at Kocarina 6pm Friday. Students in attendance will have a chance to enter a lottery to win one of 200 available limited edition Shocker snapback hats. [00:01:06] Shocker Madness 6:30pm Saturday, the annual start to the basketball season. Admission is free. The evening features scrimmages by the men's and women's basketball teams, introductions and skills contest. [00:01:21] 20 doors open at 5:30pm Both teams will sign autographs until 6pm Shocker Madness is part of Shocktoberfest, the week long celebration on campus. Before Shocker Madness, you can check out the Brew Market at Corbin Education center and the shocktoberfest parade on Oct. 7. Wichita State men's basketball plays Murray State 6:30pm in Charles Koch arena in a charity Scrimmage. Tickets are $20 for all the general admission seats. Proceeds will be split between the Wichita Children's Home and Cheese Johnson's U. Jump Tickets are on sale for the Shocker Basketball Tip off luncheon. That's 11:45am Oct. 23 at Charles Koch Arena. [00:02:09] Also going on this weekend as part of Shocktoberfest, you can check out baseball and softball. Shocker softball plays its first scrimmages of the fall. It's 1pm Saturday first McLen Community College and 1pm Sunday versus Oklahoma State at Wilkins Stadium. Shocker baseball plays Kansas City Kansas Community College at 1pm Saturday. [00:02:36] Middle blocker Abby Lehman, who played three seasons in the MVC from 2014-16 before playing her senior season when the Shockers moved to the American Conference. [00:02:47] Lehman, in the Missouri Valley Conference hit.399. [00:02:51] Ashley Andrade from 2010-13 hit.382. She ranks third in the Missouri Valley Conference list. Elizabeth Myers, also a middle blocker, as is ashley andrade. She hit.350 from 2002 to.05 and she ranks seventh. So if you're wondering where Wichita State got such a reputation for running the middle and having great success there, you have a good idea this week in shocker history October 1, 2004 volleyball coach Chris Lamb will always mention this game as one of his biggest moments at Wichita State. The shocker snap Northern Iowa's streak of 74 consecutive wins at the West Gym in Cedar Falls with a sweep of the Panthers. Sarah Yunus records 14 kills and eight service aces to lead Wichita State to its first win over the Panthers since 1992. [00:03:46] That win ends the longest active home win streak in the nation and the second longest of all time, trailing Penn State's 87 from 1995 to 2000. [00:03:57] Thank you for listening.
